AutoCAD Fundamentals Class (Basics + Intermediate) 20 hrs / level, 40 hrs total (36 hrs for bootcamp)

The objective of AutoCAD Fundamentals is to enable students to create a basic 2D drawing with the AutoCAD software and to learn the essential AutoCAD tools.  AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT Fundamentals (Essentials + Intermediate) teaches the essential AutoCAD tools and the most important commands that are required to create from basic to intermediate-level drawings in AutoCAD.

In Level 1,  the teaching strategy is to start with the basic tools and key skills that enable the student to create and edit a simple drawing. Students will watch live demonstrations and then complete practical, hands-on exercises on their computer, learning how to use the tools and the correct methods to ensure higher productivity. The book provides easy access to the training contents in printed format, providing key support that can be used to refresh the training or provide detailed guidance as you learn. More advanced tools are introduced throughout the training. Not every command or option is covered, because the intent is to show the most essential tools and concepts.

Level 1 teaches skills such as:

  • Understanding the AutoCAD workspace and user interface
  • Using basic drawing, editing, and viewing tools
  • Organizing drawing objects on layers
  • Inserting reusable symbols (blocks)
  • Preparing a layout to be plotted
  • Adding text, hatching, and dimensions
Level 2 continues with more sophisticated techniques that extend your mastery of the program. You will learn the second 50% of the basic-to-intermediate tools in AutoCAD. The intermediate level teaches more advanced drafting, editing and annotation commands, that allow you to use styles, scaled annotations, printing, intermediate-level template design for speed processing, working with the most important tool palettes for productivity purposes, tables, advanced dimensioning, advanced layer configuration, viewport options, and a faster work setup and work strategy that speeds up to 200% your work with AutoCAD.

This is followed by Level 3, which teaches you how to use automation, the most advanced AutoCAD tools, and exclusive advanced work techniques to increase your speed up to 500%, allowing you to work much faster than the average drafter.

Level 2 teaches skills such as:
  • Using more advanced editing and construction techniques
  • Using advanced dimensions, scaling, and advanced annotation objects such as tables and multi-leaders, multi-line text, etc.
  • Adding parametric constraints to objects
  • Creating local and global blocks
  • Setting up layers, styles, and templates
  • Using advanced plotting and publishing options
Prerequisites:
  • A working knowledge of basic design/drafting procedures and terminology
  • A working knowledge of your operating system
